Buy the guide - The Inside Scoop on Freelance Journalism (2026) About The Guide - Coming soon Welcome to the Freelance Journalism Starter Kit. Inside, you’ll find: curation of some of the best resources out there a breakdown of my experience and mistakes actual pitches that got accepted (and rejected!) the people you should know, follow, and READ to get your foot in the door Here's a preview: Timberly Williams This is an incredibly honest, blunt (at times) and hopefully resourceful guide. I’ve installed personal anecdotes where I think it’s helpful, but want this to feel more like a guide than a confessional, though there’s a bit of both.NB: This is primarily for journalists (3+ year experience) and non-fiction writers, but there’s some cross reference for other people in media! Over the past 2 years, I have been meticulously documenting each step I took to build my freelance career. Now, in this 70-page guide, I am sharing the full account of that journey; including the parts nobody talks about publicly. It's packed with honest insights, earnings breakdowns ($$), and all the best resources I've discovered. This is the guide I wished I'd had when I first went solo. To celebrate its publication, and to bring some of those stories to life, I'm hosting an exclusive Q&A at Loom Club in Angel (London). I'll be joined in conversation by 2 top London editors. We'll be talking about how to crack the big publications and swapping industry secrets. The guide will be available for pre-release on Monday 16th March. It's free for event attendees, or £55 full price. Get your tickets below! Spaces are extremely limited. Sign up for pre-release here! • About | Isabel Personal

ABOUT I'm Isabel - an independent journalist, producer and features writer in London. I cover cultural trends across tech, business and money, and how it shapes human relationships. Recently, I've reported on grief bots (AI tools that allow users to 'speak' to dead loved ones), I've covered the messiness of inheritance , and I've written about grassroots movements in Mexico protesting the FIFA World Cup . My work has been featured in Reuters, The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Times and the BBC, among others. Alongside writing, I work in audio too; producing radio and long-form podcasts. I also sit as a guest panellist for news programmes, discussing the major stories of the day, and breaking down what they mean for audiences. My career began investigating crypto, and I spent nearly five years covering the world of startups and venture capital. During that time, I was nominated for Tech Journalist of the Year 2021. I later spent two years in Mexico with Reuters, where I worked on the Latin America news hub, regularly interviewing business leaders and reporting on the region's political intrigues.
